Horoscope: Burma

What is it in the horoscope of Burma that makes this country so reluctant to accept help from the rest of the world ? Burma: (4 jan 1948, 04.20 Rangoon). This is a question I have asked myself a few times over the last week or two. Burma is a Buddhist country and though Buddishm is a religion of acceptance – does this mean the acceptance of suffering that is totally unnecessary? The Burmese chart….

International partnerships normally fall under the 7th house. Though seven also rules a country’s open enemies. The ruler of the 7th house is Mercury in Capricorn which is very close to the Sun. In fact, Mercury is strengthed by this conjunction as it is in what is known as “cazimi” : the heart of the Sun. Under the right circumstances this can be great, one is well positioned next to the seat of power. Under the wrong circumstances it points to extreme secrecy.

The country’s birth chart also shows a mutual reception between the Sun in Capricorn and Saturn which is in LeoSaturn is in its detriment here, so it is not well equipped to do what it is supposed to do, i.e. bring structure, and good management ot the affairs of houses two and three. The country is unable to manage its resources and financial affairs well, and is unable to communicate in a productive way. This has a negative impact on the country’s relationships with it’s neighbours and with it relationships to the rest of the world (Sun rules the ninth house of foreign countries). Since Burma does not communicate it’s needs (2nd house) well, the rest of the world (7 and 9) are unable to give the aid which it has to offer. SO as we see, mutual reception debilitates both party’s concerned when one of the planets – in this case Saturn – is unable to hold its own. The rest of the world is frustrated because it wants to do something, and the needs of the people grow by the hour and nothing gets done… The vast majority of people within the country probably cannot understand why they are not getting the help they need. This is really frustrating.

So… is there any hope at all that something might change here? Not really. At the beginning of April the progressed Moon changed sign. This tells us something about the state of the nation as a whole. How it’s people are feeling. The Moon is now in the sign of its detriment Capricorn. Capricorn is cold, distant and long suffering. The Moon is now also Saturn ruled… the people are desperate for assistance from outside, this is the only thing that might save them. Meanwhile the progressed Sun – which tells us how the rulers are doing right now – is in Pisces. The Sun is ruled by a highly dignified Jupiter in Sagittarius. Some people within Burma are doing very well for themselves indeed. Jupiter in Sagittarius is all rich and bountiful. So while the elite live off the fat of the land, the poor starve…. It might take sometime before things really start to change in Burma.

And yet…. lurking there in the wings stands Pluto… waiting to edge its way over Burma’s Capricorn Sun. Pluto will surely undermine if not crush this unfair system. 2014 is the year to watch.

Update: The Burmese Govt. has agreed today 23 May 2008 to allow internation aid into the country. Evidently the Moon/Saturn reception is bringing some good with it. However, the people of Burma have been suffering for many years under military regimes. I still stand by what I said. It might take a Pluto transit over the Sun to fundamentally change the hard-line of the current regime.
