The horoscope of Israel, reveals strained relationships

jerusalem

Israel’s relationship with both the US and Great Britain has been very strained of late. Israel’s plans to build homes in East Jerusalem were approved during Joe Biden’s recent visit to the country.Washington took this as a direct insult. It was against this backdrop, that Benjamin Netanyahu’s visited Washington this week. The US dispensed with the customary welcome afforded to such important visitors, there was no press conference, no lavish welcome and no picture of the meeting. For Israel – Jerusalem is its ancient capital – the US on the other hand, rightly recognise that the building of homes for new settlers on Palestinian territory will serve to greatly increase tension within the area. Jerusalem could become a “tinderbox”. Meanwhile on the other side of the Atlantic, Great Britain  is furious over the (Mossad?)   identity theft of British citizens living in Israel. Eleven of the assasins who murdered the Palestinian Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai, were carrying British passports. The horoscope of Israel.

The relationship with friendly nations – falls under the 7th house. However we could also include the 9th – since this is connected specifically to foreign relations. In this horoscope – Venus rules the 7th and it is in 4 degs 48 Cancer (in the 9th house). This means that Pluto in Capricorn is now making its opposition to Venus. Relationships are being broken down, examined, a post-mortem is being carried out. What works and what doesn’t? The US and Israel have always had a very strong bond – this is in part due to the US also having its Venus, Jupiter conjunction in Cancer at 3 degs. 6 and 5 degs 56 respectively. The US has this conjunction in the 7th house. However at the moment, both countries are experiencing deep changes. Venus is always about what we hold dear, closest to our heart.  Israel now claims – in true Cancerian fashion – that Jerusalem “belongs” to Israel and it has a right to build “houses” (Cancer) if it so choses. While to quote Obama after the health reform bill was passed, “This is what change looks like”, i.e. being prepared to fight for a fairer society and for what you believe in.

At present, Israel has the progressed Moon in Scorpio in the first house. It has just made a square to its natal Saturn in Leo and over the next year it will move into a square with radix Mars. These are the two ancient malefics – let’s not forget that. In fact during the course of the coming year, a fixed t-square, which includes the opposition (full Moon phase) to the natal Sun (identity), and the natal 10th house planets, is unflolding. This is an unremitting planetary pattern, fixed is anything but flexible. Fixed is like a pitbull when its got its teeth into something: it won’t let go. The sense of being “right” the attitude of “do or die”, one feels the bulldozer moving. This is then the backdrop on a soul (inner) level – against which the build up of cardinal energy the coming months, will have to contend. There is no doubt that change will come for Israel – but one senses this is the sort of change which is based solely on self interest. Do we care about what the rest of the world thinks??? It does not look positive from where I’m standing – because here “might makes right” and there is very little room for dialogue.  It also does not  look positive for peace in the Middle East and for the Palestinians living there.

The gap between the US and Israel it seems to me, is set to deepen. In the second part of the series, Great Britain and Israel.

A note on the horoscope. The data used is taken from the book , Mundane Astrology, by Baigent Campion and Harvey. ( May 14 1948, 16.37, Tel Aviv). However many astrologers use the time of 16.00. This is the moment that Ben Gurion, “struck the table with his gavel and the audience rose spontaneously and burst into the Hatikva”.. ref. from the Book of World Horoscopes. The difference is between a Libra or a Scorpio ascendant. I personally find the Scorpio ascendant fits better. Comments on this point are most welcome.
