Horoscope: ConDem new UK coalition government…

ConDem, is the rather derogatory term that has been coined for the new UK, Conservative, Lib-Democrat, coalition government. For my part, having licked my wounds following Labour’s deafeat – the time is ripe to take a serious astrological look at the Horoscope for the new ConDem coalition. First question: When was the new Government formed? There is a good argument for taking the moment of Gordon Brown’s resignation. However the time most astrologers are opting for is 2012  (it’s that spooky number again isn’t it!!). At 20.11, David Cameron entered Buckingham Palace and a photograph released of the Queen shaking hands with the new ConDem leader – shows a clock in the background – and it says 20.12The horoscope for the ConDem coaltion:

The Sun is setting in this chart – in the house of co-operation – the 7th. And partners they are indeed. Many reporters likened the  “cosy atmosphere” -during the first joint  press conference, to that of a wedding or a civil partnership. It’s being called Britain’s  “Hot new Bromance”. Well Venus in Gemini does rule the Sun – so what could you expect?

Scorpio on the ascendant, immediately gives a sense of crisis. Scorpio is the natural ruler of the 8th house – other people’s money, speculation, big wins and big losses. The last time the UK had a coalition government was in 1931 – there was a national and internation crisis then too. Scorpio is a fixed water sign – which has the reputation of being secretive. Much goings on behind closed doors methinks…. so who leaks what? Venus rules the twelfth house – hidden enemies – or the enemy within. Watch progressed Venus folks – she has a lot to tell us about the future of this Government. She rules the Sun – and don’t you forget!!

So first – let’s look at this horoscope sideways. The Sun is in Taurus, the ascendant is in Scorpio, Mars – the ascendant ruler is in Leo. Mercury rules the midheaven and – within four hours of this Government being formed – Mercury went direct. However, it will take some time for Mercury to gather speed and return to his normal daily transit rate.  “Slow and steady wins the race?” Taurus is slow moving and Scorpio too rises slowly. Acting too slowly – or the inability to act – will be a sure criticism that will be launched at this new Government.

The Moon – a very important player in a mundane chart – is void-of-course, which means she won’t make any aspects before leaving the sign she is in: Aries. (Note I am using major aspects and the 7 classical planets only). Taken together the VOC Moon, and the abundance of  fixed energy at important points, could however suggest a good degree of stability. It must be said, if this Government succeeds in sitting out a fixed 5 year term of office (the next election will take place before 11 June 2015) then it will be judged to have done very well indeed. By 11th June 2015, the progressed Sun will be in exact (to 1 minute) sextile to radix Jupiter in Pisces.

A key planet however in this chart is Venus and Venus is moving into a t-square with Saturn and Jupiter conjunct Uranus. It won’t be within the necessary a one degree orb of exactitude until 2014. This is interesting – because from November 2013 onwards – Saturn will be transitting the coalition government ascendant and will start making its opposition to the Sun in the coalition horoscope. This could represent a serious crisis, a total breakdown and even possible defeat. With Venus in mutual reception with Mercury, there is always a risk of leaks to the press – from within the own ranks. Everything Venus connected is in some respects a symbol of vulnerability. Now obviously the path a Government treads, is always strewn with danger. Crisis is pretty much the nature of the game and with Saturn currently squaring Pluto ( as was also the case in the horoscope for the 1931 coaliton) hard times lie ahead. Being in power means being in the firing line.  However, crisis does not of itself, necessarily lead to a no-cofidence vote in Parliament. But from late 2013 onwards – any cracks in the coaltion will start to become evident. Clegg and Cameron have a Sun/Sun square. Their collaboration was never going to be easy. Though ther Suns share the same quality (Cardinal) their basic approach to politics is different.

Conclusion: The major threat to the stability of the  ConDem coaltion Government will be from November 2013 onwards. If they can survive the Saturn transit to the ascendant and its opposition to the Sun, then by the time of the next planned election in 2015 – the ConDem coaltion will be judged a success. To reach 2015, Cameron and Clegg will need to show the ability to act, and to act decisively. If they are at loggerheads with each other, behind the scenes, this will leak out, and this will ruin the show of solidarity they are now so keen to project.
