The Horoscope of Hosni Mubarak: Uranus square Pluto

During the last month – the North Node of Moon has moved slowly away from a conjunction with Pluto – and onto the 0 degree Aries point. The Aries point – is also known as the axis of the world – and it has been strongly in the picture now for over a year – with Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter but also Pluto (in October 2009 for the last time), moving accross it.

Change hangs in the air.  The sort of change that has the potential to change the course of history. First the Jasmin Revolution in Tunisia, and now a regime change in Egypt is looking increasingly inevitable. These events are foreshadowing the Uranus, Pluto square which will start to come into effect as from the summer of 2011 – when for the first time since the 1930’s Uranus and Pluto will be separated  by just one degree, as they slowly move into a square aspect.  They will then remain in square – and in close aspect – until 2015. Astrologers link the rise of facism in the 1930’s, to this square.

The horoscope of Hosni Mubarak, May 4th, 1928, 12.00 (I have used Cairo, since the birth time is unknown).

Hosni Mubarak is clearly a leader of the old guard: strictly conservative. His Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Taurus – and his watery Mars in Pisces is propped up by a convincing trine from heavyweight Pluto in highly defensive Cancer. Saturn squares Mars – which in the horoscope of a military man suggests someone who brooks no opposition. The grand trine between Venus and Jupiter in Aries, Saturn in Sagittarius, and Neptune in Leo – suggests a degree of ease and comfort. However grand trines quicken events both in a positive and in a negative way. Clearly here though there is a love of luxury, coupled with a deep convinction (Saturn  in Sag.) of the justness of the benefits being heaped upon one.

In the last few days it has struck me how often I have heard mention of President Mubarak”s “thirty year regime”. As an astrologer, this sets alarm bells ringing. A complete Saturn cycle is roughly thirty years. President Mubarak took on the presidency of Egypt on Oct. 7 1981, a day after the assination of President Sadat. I have used 12.00 and again take Cairo – the capital – as location. Undoubtedly an exact time does exist for the event, however, my primary interest at the moment is Saturn.

Saturn in this horoscope is in Libra and conjunct with the Sun and Jupiter. Transit Saturn is currently retrograde in Libra and in the months to come will retrograde back accross the Sun. The Moon was clearly in Capricorn when Sadat was murdered – and Pluto is moving through this sign – and the North Node is poised to leave it. Mubarak’s regime started with a sudden violent event and the Egyptian people are equally as suddenly – trying to rid themselves of him.

President Mubarak has Uranus in Aries. Though often spoken of as the planet as revolutions – Uranus is also the planet of dictators. Hosni Mubarak has his Uranus at 5 degrees Aries – which means he is already responding to the Pluto square which as I said earlier, is set to become part of our collective experience,  later in the year.

Clearly Europe and the United States (not to mention Israel) have seen Egypt under President Mubarak – as a powerful ally in the Middle East. Much effort has been spent to cultivate friendship… Now change hangs – finely balanced – in the air. Meanwhile Uranus and Pluto get ready to dance.
