The first house of the horoscoop is often seen as the house of the personality. Planets being fortunate enough to be placed here, leave a clearly visible stamp. For example, Venus in one bestows beauty while Mercury (exalted here) makes one a skilful communicator,etc. etc. When linked to the natural zodiac, the first house has an Aries cutting edge to it. Planets in one are able to act, to do, to make their presence felt. In short, they have power.
Scorpio rising touches me personally, I share this ascendant. It has depth, intensity of feeling, keen perception, and an uncanny ability to smell a rat a mile off. Scorpios intuitively know when something isn’t quite right, and pride themselves on being able to “see through” people and situations. They have a good nose for deception too. This in-born talent can be unnerving. Not everyone feels comfortable with x-ray eye Scorpio.
But today, the Sun is in the picture. Today we get to see the lighter, positive side of Scorpio. Purposeful, dedicated, bold, daring, never shying from a challenge. We are reminded through Scorpio, that the Sun always shines. Scorpio’s have staying power, they just don’t give up.
