Barack Obama Wins: the Horoscope

“Change we can believe in” is the header on the Obama 08 site. It’s that word -that is so synonomous with Pluto’s imminent move into Capricorn – CHANGE. No getting round it. I spent some time on the web searching for the exact time that Obama made his Victory Speech – because whatever happens next – this is a historic win. I want the horoscope. No black American has ever reached this pinnacle of success. Colin Powell, Jesse Jackson – yes we know their names – but they fade into the pale – when set alongside Barack Obama. This is history in the making and I have goose pimples as I write. Anyway… the victory speech was made in the evening of 3 June in St. Paul, Minnesota. An article was placed on the Obama 08 site at 10.30 pm that same evening. The time I took for the chart was 10.00 pm.. Allowing for the fact that Obama likes to make long speeches and typing the article and getting it online also takes some time. I was a bit alarmed to see the last degrees of Sagittarius rising, which means Pluto itself is very close to the ascendant, in the cardinal sign of significant change, Capricorn.

This is a powerful horoscope– the speech was made on the day of the New Moon in Gemini. The fight is now on. The field is open for play. The New Moon suggest the start of a campaign not the end of a campaign. The long drawn out battle for the democratic nomination – has hopefully served to whet Obama’s appetite because there is much more to struggle for. Mercury is retrograde – which suggests that the plan or the campaign tactics have yet to be clearly defined. The New Moon suggest – things hidden – as yet unexpressed. So.. there will be some behind the scenes stuff going on here as the strategists put their heads together. There is of course one very sensitive issue to deal with here: Mrs. Hilary Clinton. Big issue which needs very careful treatment.

In view of the campaign history – and not forgetting that Clinton and Obama are both fixed signs – it is difficult for me to imagine these to working together. They would probably disagree over everything. Imagine how much energy that would take !! So.. For Clinton it’s definitely “game over”. That’s it.

Hilary Clinton’s own natal Neptune stands in conjunction with the US Saturn. So there we have it, a big disappointment for Hilary in terms of her ambition. Hilary also has Pluto transitting her 7th house cusp right now. Hopefully she won’t  take all her frustration out on Bill!

Again looking at the horoscope. Note how little water there is. Only one planet, Uranus in Pisces. Obama has to get some compassion into his campaign and some sense of inclusiveness. There is a lot of air in this horoscope. Barack Obama is an intellectual but intellectuals will not win him the election. He already has this group on board. What Barack Obama really has to do is to let the less well off in the US “feel” that there is a place for them in the New America he is trying to create. America has the Sun in Cancer. Ideas alone will not win Barack Obama the White House!
