The Horoscope of Rome

History has conveniently offered us a date for the founding of Rome. It was founded on 21 April 0753 BC. This means that the once mighty ruler of the ancient world – the empire that excelled in warfare and succesfully conquered and civilised half the world – has the Sun in the martial sign Aries. The horoscope of Rome

What really surprises me in the horoscope of Rome is the placement of Mars in the watery sign Pisces. I can only imagine that this points  to a really huge role for religion. Pisces suggests a pantheon of Gods all of which must have played a significant role in the day to day life of the citizens of the Roman Empire. Interestingly though the Romans were fond of conquering – they tended to allow the peoples they ruled to continue to worship their own Gods. They tended to assimilate rather than outlaw. Water – in general – has the tendency to absorb.

Venus is exalted in Pisces. Roman places of worship are a delight to be seen. The Pantheon is a truly magnificent piece of architecture. In general – Roman were masters in working with bronze and marble. Through their clever use of archways – which were able to carry weight – they were able to create complex structures such as the Colosseum.

The bloody element of Rome – can perhpas be found in the t-square between the Moon in Aquarius – Pluto in Leo – and Saturn in Scorpio. The Moon in Aquarius is interesting – Rome after all was the first Republic. Most of our political institutions – such as parlements – were inspired by the Roman model. There was a fascinating program on the BBC last year “What the Romans did for us”. Unbelievable actually what this ancient nation actually did achieve.

Neptune conjunct Jupiter trine Pluto –  again suggests a significant role for religion. This was a nation that undoubtedly had an enormous sense of vision and of destiny. This was also a nation of philosophers, people who pondered on the great questions of life and tried to find answers to them.

So what happened to Rome? What does the horoscope tell us about the fall of Rome?… to be continued. What does this horoscope tell you?
