George W. Bush’s role in US destiny: III

(Final Part) This article was first published in the International Journal of the Astrological Association of Great Britain in February 2005 but was submitted for publication in 2004.  … George W. Bush has his Sun in square to both Jupiter and the Moon. The tendency to overestimate oneself is self evident. The Greeks had a word for this: they called it hubris. Rich and powerful people are likely (if not guided by high moral principles) to commit an act of hubris and in this way the gods punish. Hubris leads to a state of Ahtay – blindness and delusion. This means the person goes over the top in a way that oversteps moral bounds. Ultimately such a person falls. Richard Nixon is a classic example of how hubris works. With the US Sun caught up here, the possibility of a hard lesson for America is present.

Should George W. Bush win the coming election, then in view of America’s sensitivity to Uranus transits, perhaps the greatest threat to world peace in the new millenium will arise in 2006 when Uranus opposes George W. Bush’s Mars while squaring the Ascendant/Descendant axis of the United States horoscope.

(What actually happened in February 2006?  President Bush deployed an extra 30.000 troops to Irak as part of a new strategy to quell an explosion of sectarian violence that erupted after the bombing of the revered Shi’ite shrine in Samarra also in February 2006.)

To conclude: The synastry between Bush and the US is remarkable. There has never been a President in US history whose horoscope has such strong links to the US chart. At the time of the election (2 November) the progressed Sun in the US horoscope will have moved to Pisces, at the same time George W. Bush’s progressed Moon moves into Sagittarius. The link here is Jupiter, ruler of the US ascendant. As we saw in the past, when the US’s progressed Sun is in a Jupiter-ruled sign, it fundamentally changes its relationship with the rest of the world. The burning question is, what shape will this new involvement take? With George W. Bush’s progressed MC closing in on his radix Uranus-Node conjunction, his destiny will surely be fulfilled. With this same MC-Uranus-Node conjunction in conjunction with America’s radix 7th house Mars I feel sure that things will get worse before they can get better, should President Bush’s controversial presidency continue.

It is therefore comforting to think that in some mysterious way, somehow beyond our comprehension, this is bound to the “manifest destiny” of the United States which, let us not forget, is ultimately linked to vision and to non-materialistic values. So at this point in time there is only one thing of which we can be absolutely certain: America and the rest of the world will learn an awful lot from George W. Bush.

In October 2004 I appeared on Dutch National Television, coming out for a George W. Bush second term. At the time I think I was one of only a handfull of astrologers in the Netherlands who actually believed he could do this. I based my decision on the continuing synastry between the horoscope of the US and the horoscope of Bush: i.e. the simultaneous movement of progressed Sun/ US to Pisces, and progressed Moon Bush to Sagittarius. This clinched it for me. When I went to bed on the night of the election, Kerry looked set to win. The next morning history proved that I was right….
