Obama’s Inauguration:Jupiter undiluted!!

One of the first things we must remember when looking at the inauguration chart is that since President Roosevelt the time and date of the inauguration ceremony has been fixed. It always takes place on January 20th, and the swearing in ceremony itself is at 12 noon. The ascendant is therefore around 14 degrees Taurus, the midheaven is around 25 degrees Capricorn, and the Sun always in 0 degrees Aquarius. Also because of the close proximity to the Sun, the positions of Venus and Mercury too, are limited. With so much fixed in this chart, it is little wonder that the whole event is carefully choreographed and steeped in tradition. So what we are looking for in the inauguration horoscope are things that make it in someway unique. Things like – for example, the Sun conjunct Jupiter.

If we take a (extremely quick) glance back to George W. Bush’s inauguration (1st term, 2001) we find that the Sun on inauguration day was conjunct with Neptune. Need I say more? Spin, deception, lies, subterfuge, mistrust, fall from grace, loss of power and authority….okay. A virtual Neptunian overdose. Enough said. Indeed.

Looking now at Barack Obama’s inauguration later today, the Sun, ruler of Barack Obama’s birth sign Leo, meets Jupiter, here in the sign of our common humanity, Aquarius. This has a much truer, much more humanistic ring to it. The water bearer pours out reason and quenches our thirst for truth. Jupiter and the Sun are both linked to Royalty, and it must be significant, that today the Sun in Aquarius is conjunct with Barack Obama’s own natal Jupiter. This is a truly powerful signature.

The whole world is filled with hope. So strong can our sense of common humanity be. One world – linked up – and filled with a sense of renewed destiny and hope. This is JupiterUndiluted. And mighty strong stuff it is too.

    Hi Liz,

Justice: (…)Well aspected and on the ‘right planet’ we have someone of courage who will fight for right, but is generous to his opponents when they are defeated. If harshly aspected, especially to Mars, Saturn or the Moon, justice may well take a back seat to vengeance. Het herhaalt het Jupiter/Mercurius-thema dat ook via antiscion op MC/IC mooi te zien is in zijn radix.

Hallo Annemiek, I had noted the antiscion link via between the two lights, the Sun and Moon. This is also a reflection of the huge level of support that Obama has among the people (the Moon). I think I have written about this in another article about Obama’s inauguration on this site. Mercury retro. is indeed combust as is Jupiter. Traditionally of course this is not a favourable sign, but then the Sun is in detriment in Aquarius – yet Presidents since Roosevelt are inaugurated with the Sun in this sign. Are US leaders lame-dogs..?? I don’t think so. America remains immensely powerful. Its power is linked to its Aquarian ideals. Equality. Though America’s ideals have fallen foul of bad leadership in the past, Obama is a true refection of what is possible in the US. I don’t think we in the old world are quite ripe for a black President yet. The links between Obama’s chart and the inauguration are indeed very striking. Many thanks for your input Annemiek and until we meet again ….My best. Elizabeth
