Scientology: Horoscope Ron Hubbard

Hard times for Scientology in Europe? Certainly all eyes are on the French courts where a group of former members are trying to sue the movement and reclaim some of the thousands of euro’s they spent on books, course material, vitamine preparations, etc. etc. etc. But of course what the opponents of the movement in France are really looking for is a total ban on the “religion”. If they succeed, this would perhaps help Germany. It too would love to outlaw Scientology. Armed with such precedents other European countries might well follow suit. So, can the horoscope of Ron Hubbard – the founder of the cult movement – give us any clues as to what might happen next?

Ron Hubbard 13 March 1911, 02.01 Tilden, Nebraska (from Lois Rodden site).

It is clear when looking at the horoscope that the present difficulties Scientology are experiencing, are connected to the current Saturnus/Uranus opposition which is squaring the ascendant of the founder of the religion: Ron Hubbard. Saturn and Uranus, evolution and revolution. Saturn in Virgo, supports critical enquiry while Uranus in Pisces could point to cults and superstitious beliefs. The current trend seems to support and uphold the ratio  – a Virgoan activity – as opposed to the irrational, which is very Piscean. France is taking a lead and the current witch hunt goes way beyond Scientology. Pisces is after all a very fertile sign. Just recently the French Government  published a report, which voiced conern about what it sees as a large growth in “religious sects”. President Sarkozy has been criticised for not taking enough action on this front. Also in Holland the shooting season has opened on alternative healers. They are never far from the news.

The prevailing view seems to suggest that superstition and “irrational” beliefs can, with vigilance, be supressed or even wiped out. This in itself is a very simplistic approach to a very deep and complex issue.  For most people “belief’ is a subjective experience which is quite independant of rational thinking. There is no yard stick that can measure belief. In this area, one man’s meat is another man’s poison.

But back to Hubbard. In the coming weeks, Saturn will oppose the Sun in Ron Hubbard’s horoscope. Serious questions will be raised, once again, about this very controversial movement. But then Scientology has from the outset been beset with problems. Uranus transitting Ron Hubbard’s Sun is tricky. In the radix the Sun is quite closely square to Pluto. So yes, issues about manipulation and secret activities will come to the fore. Yet is must be said that the grand trine in water in the horoscope, Jupiter in Scorpio, Mercury in Pisces, and Neptune in Cancer has tremdous vigour. The question that comes to my mind is therefore this. Is it really possible to wipe Scientology out? My answer to this question must be: No.

Apart from the astrology, I do have a personal opinion on Scientology: it does nothing at all for me.  I once got hoodwinked into filling out a questionaire. These things can happen even to the best of us. Yet I would uphold the right of other people to explore what it has to offer. This is as far as I am concerned a personal question involving choice and free will. Any attempts to legislate on such issues will only lead to the movement disappearing underground – which is an altogether different thing than stamping it out.
