Astrology: Roger Federer vs Pete Sampras

Well Roger Federer did it. After a nail biting Wimbledon men’s final yesterday, Roger Federer usurped Pete Sampras from his throne. Federer is now the tennis player with the greatest number of Grand Slam titels in tennis history. Before going any further thought, let’s give it up for the transits of Saturn. Saturn always gets such bad press. Great to see that Roger Federer (8 aug, 1981, 08.40 Basel, Switzerland-source Lois Rodden) had transit Saturn conjunct with his radix Venus in the first house, on the day of his win. It was a painful match for sure, with a final set of no less than 30 games. Physically exhausting for both players. Yes, Saturn can make gruelling but compulsive viewing. But now to the horoscopes. The similarities between the horoscope of the previous title holder, Pete Sampras (12 aug, 1971, Washington, DC, soure L.Rodden) and Roger Federer are pretty remarkable. Not only are they both Leo’s, the sign of the victorius “King”,  but there are other interesting resemblances too.. Horoscope Pete Sampras, Roger Federer (inner wheel)

Both players have significant planets in Leo, Libra and in Scorpio. Federer is born under the maverick conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Libra in 1981 and is conjunct with Uranus in Pete Sampras’ chart. Likewise, Sampras‘ Jupiter in Scorpio, is conjunct with Federer’s Moon and Uranus in that sign.

The Sun is not the only planet with blue blood. Jupiter is also linked to royalty, to great victories, and according to William Lilly, to “glorious things”. Uranus on the other hand is the rebel rouser, his primary concern is change, the usurping of Kings. Uranus is not imprssed by the glorious past. So it is totally within the celestial order of things, that the young God (Federer) throws the old God(Sampras) off his throne. It is time to write a new chapter in the history of tennis books. “The King is Dead….Long Live the King”
