Quentin Tarantino and the secrets of the male psyche

This week Veronica (a Dutch tv channel) has been running a series of Quentin Tarantino movies: Reservoir Dogs; Jackie Brown; and last but not least Pulp Fiction.  The Dutch particularly love Pulp Fiction by the way. This is because Tarantino wrote the script while living in Amsterdam and there are several references to the city in the film. The name of director Quentin Tarantino is just about everywhere at the moment, which has everything to do with the release here of his latest film, Inglorius Basterds. The horoscope of Quentin Tarantino.

Why would a female astrologer be interested in Quentin Tarantino’s birth chart actually? Well. I have Scorpio rising, Mars in Aries, and Pluto conjunct the midheaven. As a kid I loved spaghetti-westerns and the way I see it, violence in a Tarantino movie is too obviously over the top to be taken “seriously”.  But the question I came to the chart to answer is – why does Tarantino and violence seem to go hand in hand?

Let’s begin with the strong mutual reception between Tarantino’s Sun in Aries and Mars in Leo. This firey cocktail of both male planets ensures that Tarantino is very much alive to the male psyche. He knows what guys are looking for. Danger, snappy dialogues, lot’s of gratuitous violoence and leggy goodlooking women who are bound to perform to powerful men.  Tarantino’s characters have a larger than life quality. Sun is exalted in Aries.  There is energy in this chart combination and daring – and a smidgeon of “fools rush in”.

Quentin Tarantino is born at the start of the Uranus/Pluto conjunction.  Growing up in the 1960’s and early seventies his generation would ultimately aquire the label Generation X. His nihilistic attitude to life is found repulsive by many, however his success in itself reflects back on this self same Uranus/Pluto conjunction.  Quentin Tarantine is quite literally a product of the times. His movies reflect American culture.

However this is actually the chart of a well brought up if somewhat outspoken boy. Look at the number of planets that are superbly placed!! Saturn in it’s own sign Capricorn – which gives huge amounts of self discipline. Then there is Jupiter in Pisces which contacts the Moon’s Nodes. There is belief here…. if only in oneself. The Moon could be in Taurus as well… but with a noon birth time being used for this chart – this could just as easily be in Aries.

Meanwhile Venus in Aquarius is a little troublesome. It is unaspected. Tarantino is single – even though his name has been romantically linked with many females, including Uma Thurman. Aquarius is good at doing platonic – so we really have no reason to question Tarantino’s honesty when he say this relationship was non-sexual. It’s even been said that Aquarians love humanity as a whole but have problems with the individual. However, all is not lost, Venus in Saturn ruled – which could point to serious relationship in middle-age.

Great chart.
