In my Valentine’s day post, I looked at the impact of Pluto in Libra, Scorpio and Capricorn on relationships. I left Sagittarius out of the equation, dropped a stitch. Sagittarius is a future orientated, visionary, philosophical sign. The archer is never quite satisfied with things as they are – he shoots his arrow – and gallops off in search of new horizons. Sagittarius has links to law, ethical issues, new discoveries in science, visionaries in this area as well as to the philospical disputes, religious and otherwise that are part and parcel of progress. With Pluto in Sagittarius – the laws underlying relationships were under review. In the Netherlands the first gay marriage took place, and gay couples were allowed to adopt children for the first time, while inter-racial marriages increased. In the US “The question on race for Census 2000 was different from the one for the 1990 census in several ways. Most significantly, respondents were given the option of selecting one or more race categories to indicate their racial identities.”
Pluto in Sagittarius was about an increased awareness of the legal implications of relationships and pressure groups demanded legal fare play. Justice must – after all – be seen to be blind. Relationship issues led to heated discussions, usually centred around morals and religion. It is interesting that news of the cloning of Dolly the Sheep, broke just as Pluto dipped its toes in the sign. While the ability to screen foetuses – left couples facing dilemma’s and choices they had hitherto not had to face.
