It was on the day of the Aries New Moon, WednesdayApril 14th, that news broke over a second eruption of a volcano in Iceland. This second blast coincided with the first news of a stunning display of a meteor crossing the night sky in Utah, in the VS. Now some people must be thinking the end is nigh – (and certainly astrologers in the past viewed such sightings as an unfortunate omen) – however, luckily I’m not so inclined. However, having said that it is a pretty interesting series of coincidences. The following horoscope is a heliocentric (sun based) horoscope, drawn up for the exact time of the New Moon. I am using a heliocentric chart – so that I can look at what’s happening with a view to the world as a whole.
You will notice that in the heliocentric horoscope, there is no Moon, the green circle with a cross in it, is our planet, Earth. The Earth – when viewed from the perspective of the Sun – is receiving the influence of Neptune and Venus. Neptune is connected to mist, dust, blurred vision. Neptune is linked to dissolution and erosion. At the moment the Earth’s atmosphere is filled with dust which is a mixture of amongst other things, sand and glass- if the glass gets into the engines of airplanes, it melts in the heat and thas the potential to create dangerous situations. So its a good thing that profit (wealth=Venus) is not in the picture here, safety first is the golden rule. Venus – our benevolent lady friend – is aspecting the Earth and looking after her well being. Interesting is the Mars/Mercury conjunction in Virgo – oppositie Uranus – whic together create a t-square to Venus in Gemini. The news is certainly dominated by a surprise event, which has grounded passengers (Mercury) accross Europe, and subsequent flights to Europe from around the world. The financial losses here will be huge. This is global happening – which is what makes taking a look at the heliocentric chart so interesting.
The meteor on the other hand, has the potential at least to be dangerous in another way. . Meteors commonly contain large quantities of iron – which is the metal of the planet Mars. Mercury is connected to travel – and here a traveller from afar – makes its presence known to us in a spectacular and newsworthy fashion. Luckily for us – Venus is prominent in this t-square combination too. She is the focal planet. While the stories are big – the loss of life from both these events are – I believe: O.
