Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Aries: the love game..

The current conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Aries – is already expressing itself  in a myriad of different ways.  However, it is on one particular form of internet crime that I want to focus: the love game. I call it a game, but actually this is a very serious form of crime, and it involves conning, usually middle aged people out of their life’s savings. But, what does Aries specifically have to do with love? Well, Aries is part of an axis, and the sign opposing Aries, Libra, is the sign of partnerships. Libra’s need to relate. This is basic stuff, it’s yin and yang.  When one end of an axis is triggered, some elemements connected to the opposite end, will also come into play. So, while an  increase in cybercrime seems very likely indeed when Uranus (the rebel, the spell breaker, the creative thinker) enters the sign of the warrior (Aries), this targetting of people who are hungry for love (Libra), will certainly be on the increase. 

Yesterday evening, in an undercover report, the BBC gave some insight into the size and nature of this sort of crime. The criminals – in this case all from Ghana – download photo’s of individuals (Aries) from the net (Uranus), and then pretend to be this person. The con-man (or woman)  then joins a dating sites – because this is where people are searching for love and social contact (very Jupiterian). Weeks of grooming follow, with hours of time spent online  each night.  Finally the “false lover” will start to ask for money. The amount of money, women in the UK were prepared to part with, having never ever met the partner in the flesh, is pretty mind boggling: one victim parted with 125.000 pounds, and was told the truth the day before she was set to sell her house!! One tearful invalide, had just parted with 45.000 pounds. Despite her distress, this lady was deeply saddened by the fact that she now had to miss the contact she had had, with her virtual lover.

This scam the BBC investigated, is the tip of the iceberg and I’m sure there will be much more of this going on in the year and years ahead.
