One of the things that makes life difficult for mundane astrologers is the period of gestation that often takes place between the conception and birth of a great idea. While some events happen in an immediate way, an election is held on a set date, a plane crashes, a war begins, etc. … but some happenings are less clear cut. For our knowledge of events we largely depend on the media and internet. So we could ask: if a tree falls in a forest and no-one is there to hear it, does the tree fall? A mudane astrologer can write about things which will only reveal themselves much later.
I just came accross a classic example of this while doing some work on the t-square involving Saturn/Pluto/Uranus and Jupiter and the axis of the world.* With floods, earthquakes, landslides, forest fires dominating the news- this axis is certainly proving itself to be linked to the physical body of the earth. But not all the news is bad. In June the news broke that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet had pledged to give away most of their fortune (at least half) to charity, and that they were encouraging other super rich people to do the same: the Giving Pledge.
While this story broke on June 16th, it transpires that the actual plans to set up the foundation were made the year before. Sometime in May 2009 Bill and Melinda Gates dined with Warren Buffet (and other billionaires) in secret in New York – to discuss their philanthropic work. The media hounds were succesfully held at bay here, for more than a year. Last year I wrote that “>Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune conjunction lends itself to discussions that transcend the boundaries of race, colour, creed and country……… Here we stand at the beginning of a new phase of global relations. The time for new allegiances has come.” The Giving Pledge smacks of Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune – yet it took more than a year for us to hear about it. So this is an example of how difficult work in mundane astrology can be. It was only when the axis of the world was triggered, that the story was publicised. I have selected a date in mid-May 2009, this is a purely hypothetical chart.
