William Hague and the British Obsession with Sexuality…

As an ex-pat, I am completely bemused by the British political and public obsession with sexuality and the scandal that goes with it. I say amazed, because in the Netherlands, politics and sexuality are quite simply separate affairs. In the Netherlands, as long as someone does their job well and doesn’t break the law, sexuality is a private matter place between consenting adults.  How different in the UK. Of course the UK horoscope is clear about this. The horoscope of the UK.

Venus is in the fifth house of pleasurable activity and opposes Saturn. Venus also rules the ascendant – so strict codes of behaviour are expected from those that work in the public eye. Saturn is always a stern tax-master, but in Leo – the link is quickly made to those in power. Harsh judgement here for those who overstep imposed ideas of morality and correct behaviour. The UK Sun in Capricorn, re-inforces this tendency, it is after all Saturn ruled. It is a fact that most politicians in the UK are also ex public school boys. Children fall under the 5th, and again there is something particularly Saturnian in the separation of children  into the public school institution. What an unusual lot we British are.

Anyway, the latest (yawn) – in the unending line of scandals that give the gutter press something to sing about  is ex Tory Party Leader, now Minister for Foreign Affairs. William Hague. We only just had the David Laws business for goodness sake!! Though I have been unable to find a birth time for William Hague, his horoscope reflects some difficulties in his public life at this time. The horoscope of William Hague:

To begin with Saturn is opposing William Hague’s Sun (his core being) subjecting his actions to scrutiny and calling his personal judgement (Saturn/Libra) into question. While Pluto is also in the queue, ready to dredge up anything it can lay its hands on. Such is the nature of Pluto folks. Of course this is all acutely painful to the man. Pluto is indeed renowned for his, how shall I put it, his merciless dissection. Can any of us get through such transits unscathed?

However, the core question is, why is the British public so obsessed with sexuality? What does it really matter if William Hague is straight, bi-sexual, or homosexual, so long as he does the job well that he is being paid for?

Some how, and in some way, the British obsession with sexuality needs to be openly addressed. This and only this, will lead to a situation where those in the public eye, can be freed of the burden of secrecy and the fear of exposure by the sneaky gutter press. Large sums of money are still handed out by newspapers like the Sun and the News of the World to those who are willing to kiss and tell.  There is some hope on the horizon methinks. Pluto now in Capricorn will transit the UK Sun in the years to come. Hopefully the dreadful hypocrisies (which can also be linked to Libra) which are endemic in UK public life, can be exposed. It is time that we grew up and let sexuality rest where it belongs: in the private sphere.
