The Amsterdam School of Astrology is the only place in North Holland where you can be assured of regular, high quality astrology lectures. This autumn’s guest is the Australian classical astrologer Mari Garcia who will be tackling two of the most tricky houses of the birth chart: the second and the eighth. The following text is copied from the ASA website:
“The terms ‘epicataphora’ and ‘anaphora’ are not familiar to the modern astrologer. They are names given to the 2nd and 8th houses and refer to their role as portals of the underworld. House meanings were originally defined by the diurnal movement of the Sun. With the 8th house, the Sun traversing this sector of the sky is seen to start ‘falling’ from a position of supremacy to its eventual decline in the western horizon. Similarly, the 2nd house by position, lies underneath the earth and both houses carry with them the epithet, Gates of Hades. However, the difference is whereas the 8th was seen as the entrance into the underworld, the 2nd was seen as the exit from it. ”
I had never thought of the 2nd house as the exit from the underworld before, had you? Having said that, as our knowledge of and access to classical astrology increases, we start to understand our own art much better.
This really looks set to be a little gem of a workshop, because Ms. Garcia will also be covering the Moon’s wobble. The Moon’s what? You heard me, the Moon’s wobble. Now, check out the website, and get yourselves written in… all will be revealed, I promise.
