Astrological Insight: Mutual Reception Venus/Mercury means creativity abounds

Astrological Insight : As the week beings, Mercury is coming out of station and is starting to gather momentum. Today, Monday, late afternoon, the Moon in freedom loving Sagittarius trines Uranus in bold and fearless Aries. My thoughts are with a Dutch astrologer and friend of mine, whose nephew is committing euthanasia this afternoon on his 36th birthday. Mercury has many roles – an important and often forgotten role – is that of pyschopomp – or one who conducts the souls of the dead to Hades. Mercury still holds the grand earth trine together. This is a strong, practical, earthy combination of planets. There is very little water – an element which relates to the feeling nature and the emotions. Perhaps these need now to be kept at bay. Chiron and Neptune are in Pisces – so while the surface appears strong – beneath deep emotional currents are at play. Neptunus in Pisces is the ocean from which life emerged. Neptune’s ongoing square to Saturn in Sagittarius – reminds me of the myth of Pandora’s Box. When we are assailed on all sides – then we find hope. Peace and light to all concerned.

Astrological Insight : On Tuesday Venus exchanges her domicile Taurus, for Gemini and enters into a mutual reception with Mercury currently in her sign. The need for and possibility of co-operative endeavours increases. This combination is very good for business. Plans move forward quicker and easier than expected. This is in part due to a more creative approach. The grand earth trine – backs Mercury up – you could say that everyone wants to be a winner. Creativity abounds. Meetings discussing tricky, complex issues are highlighted. Deals can be made. On Wednesday – Venus opposes Mars in Sagittarius – and picks up on the degrees of last Saturday’s Full Moon. The Full Moon emphasises polarity, balance and stresses the need to be objective, as my grandfather used to say ‘never judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes’. It is not a weakness to seek dialogue (Gemini).

Astrological Insight :Mars in Sagittarius is moving retrograde – and on Friday it re-enters its own sign Scorpio – which is a sign of great strength and martial power. The sword is in the scabbard – but the hand is on the hilt. A threat might have the power to force a dialogue.

Astrological Insight : However, Jupiter now direct makes its final square to Saturn on Thursday. The first square was in August 2015 – involving fixed signs Leo/Scorpio – followed on March 23rd – just one day before the Brussel airport bombing – by the second square, now in the mutable signs Virgo/Sagittarius. On 26 May the current series ends. Jupiter is conjunct the North Node in Virg0 and Mercury the nodal ruler is in peace loving Taurus. Might does not always make right. There is a strong planetary argument to keep dialogue going, to look for new ways to approach old problems. The mutual reception between Mercury and Venus suggests new openings that haven’t been looked at yet. Saturn in Sagittarius can be very self-righteous, yes even hypocritical. A heavy handed approach, or even worse still a ‘don’t do as I do, do as I tell you’ attitude will serve only to alienate people. Furthermore, the grand earth trine tends towards revelations (Pluto) or to the uncovering of falsehoods. There is great potential for good here – however – this is a double edged sword. Gemini is interested in disseminating information, it likes a good story and whether the story is true or false is secondary. So there could be a lot of gossip flying around this week -hot air – and some of it might be of a malicious (Mars) nature.

Astrological Insight : There are lots of planets in mutual signs and we should not underestimate the importance of integrity and sincerity. We are moving towards a mutable climax which takes place around the new Moon on June 5th. It is important to remain open to possibilities which allow us to take advantage of situations that are fast moving. We need to challenge our thought patterns and open our minds to things we might previously have dismissed out of hand.
