Jupiter in Pisces

Pisces, water, movement, mystery, spilling, sharing, touching, dreaming, believing. In the United Kingdom as of Monday May 17th, people will be ‘allowed’ to hug again !! There will be inside beer too – and a chance to experience alcohol induced euphoria -with the Sun conjunct Algol on Monday- some might lose their heads. The entertainment industry slowly awakes from its long winter sleep. Get ready for a short foray of Jupiter in Pisces (from 13th May – see ingress chart below) which offers us a tantalizing taster, a smidgeon of the old life and a much needed respite from the trials and tribulations of the past year or more. Okay on July 28th Jupiter will re-enter Aquarius and it won’t be until December 29th that Jupiter makes is third and definite ingress into Pisces. So the time is now, surrender to life.

Traditionally Jupiter rules two mutable signs, Sagittarius and Pisces. Jupiter in Sagittarius, is fire in the belly,  inspired idealism and intuition (William Blake, Copernicus, Queen Elizabeth I etc.). Jupiter in Sag evokes in me a sense of height, as in  ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my strength’. Jupiter in Pisces, on the other hand has a more devotional leaning, as in ‘If I speak in the tongues[of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing…’ Remember, Venus is exalted in this water sign.

Pisces relates to the feet – hence to movement – and the sense of being on a path, a pilgrimage, keeping the faith. Pisces does not need to see in order to believe. There is a deep understanding and wisdom present, which can manifest as right action, and an ability to inspire, persuade and lead others (Islam, The Magna Carter, Abe Lincoln,  Evangeline Adams, etc.). Though intrinsically Pisces is a wonderful position for Jupiter, as with any and all planets, it can still manifest in both positive and  negative ways. The last time Jupiter was in Pisces for example, the Deep Water Horizon oil spill happened, and the Icelandic Ash Cloud which followed in the wake of volcanic eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull led to major disruptions to air travel. Disasters that occur when Jupiter is in Pisces can spread through other elements and choke, stifle or disturb us. Dreams can become profoundly prophetic and the imagination as a soul-tool is empowered by Jupiter’s presence is in this most mysterious of signs.

In my review of 2021, I noted that the problematic periods this year would fall when the faster moving planets congregated in the fixed signs, since they would then feed into this year’s long running Saturn/Uranus square.  Words I used were, entrenchment, fixed ideas, an unwillingness to budge etc. With Jupiter in fixed sign Aquarius poised to shift sign -now crossing an anaretic degree – the temperature in the Middle East has rocketed – and we are reminded of situations unresolved and at this moment in time, seemingly unresolvable. Will Jupiter in Pisces bring some solace I wonder? After all, hope springs eternal. Jupiter in Pisces opens doors to prayers, invocations, and all manner of devotional tools. Burn a candle…. There be miracles …..
