Astrological Insights: Mercury Retrograde, deciding what we really, REALLY, want

Astrological Insight : Looking at the chart wheel for this Monday morning – my eye immediately fell on the besieged Moon. A planet is besieged when it finds itself sandwiched between the two so called malefics, Mars and Saturn. My once teacher John Frawley said it was like being stuck between a rock and a hard place: not a comfortable place to be. Of old, the Moon in mundane astrology has related to the people. My son’s announcement (he has the ascendant in 8 Sag) that he was driving to a theme park on the … Lees verder

Re-inventing Monika Lewinsky: the grand trine between Jupiter, Saturn & Chiron

The grand water trine between Jupiter, Saturn & Chiron: Over the coming month Jupiter, Saturn and Chiron link up in a rare grand water trine. Chiron’s orbit is steeply inclined to the ecliptic and it can spend as much as 8 years in a sign (Pisces, Aries) or as little as 2 years (Virgo, Libra). It is this eccentricity in orbit that makes a grand trine involving Chiron a relatively rare event. The last time I was able to bring this particular group of planets together within orb of exactitude was in October 1933, with … Lees verder

Horoscope: Rupert Murdoch and the powers that be

The speed with which the phone hacking scandal in the UK has evolved during the last week is quite staggering – particularly when you remember this whole affair started in the summer of 2006. It is becoming increasingly clear that politicians, police and business people alike, were intimidated by Rupert Murdoch’s power  to make or break their personal lives and careers. Rupert Murdoch – actually reminds me of Charles Foster Cane – the media tycoon in the film Citizen Cane.  Rupert Murdoch too it seems is prepared to sell his soul to the devil – … Lees verder

Uranus in Aries: The horoscope of Japan and the January 4th solar eclipse

What is striking in the horoscope of Japan – is that Japan – just like  Egypt and Libya – is experiencing its Saturn return. BUT make no mistake – this is not just any old Saturn return. The January 4th 2011 eclipse – had the North Node in zero degrees Capricorn – it was therefore triggering the world axis* (i.e. zero degrees of all the cardinal signs) which was already fully activated last year by Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn. This was also the very last eclipse in the Capricorn series – as the Node … Lees verder

Bernadette Brady, Jupiter/Saturn and the Middle East?

Just a short post to let you know that the March issue of Bernadette Brady‘s excellent Visual Astrology Newsletter is now available. This newsletter includes an article on the role of Jupiter/Saturn in the current turmoil in the Middle East written by Nick Campion. Nick rarely writes anything purely astrological these days – so it’s a real treat to actually hear him voicing his opinion on mundane events. As dessert –  Bernadette Brady gives an excellent insight into the astrology of Saturn‘s position in relation to Jupiter. Saturn has been a singleton (i.e. having 180 … Lees verder

Libya, Gaddafi, and the January 4th eclipse

image Wiki-Commons: Jesse B. Awalt From 642 until the 16th century, Libya was part of the great Muslim Empire – and was often linked to Egypt or Tunisia.* Interesting then indeed that events in Tunisia and Egypt are now having such a huge impact on Libya. In his Book of World Horoscopes, Nick Campion gives two possible horoscopes for Libya – the first horoscope is for the country’s independence from Britain – the second is for the military coup (Sept. 3 1969, 05.00, Tripoli). The horoscope shown here is for Libyan independence, Dec. 24th 1951, … Lees verder

Chile Mine Accident: Saturn/Pluto

It is impossible to imagine what life must be like for the 33 miners trapped deep underground in Chile. The bowels of the earth, and the depths of the sea, are dark, unbidden places  that arouse something in us which is the antipathy of the comfortable life we know.  If you are claustrophobic maybe you ought to skip this video that was released on August 27th. The Chilean mine accident took place on August 5th 2010, 12.00 (time unknown) Copiapo. Mining is a Saturnian pursuit, fraught with danger and this chart bears all the hallmarks of it. Mars is about fight, flight and adrenaline and in … Lees verder

The fall of the Anne Frank tree: symbol of change within Israel itself

“Our chestnut tree is in full blossom. It is covered with leaves and is even more beautiful than last year…” – Anne Frank, 13 May 1944 (cited on Wikipedia)” On Monday 23 August at approximately 13.30 (source nrc.nl) the most famous chesnut tree in the world finally succombed to sickness and old age. The Anne Frank tree stood for 150 years in the garden of Prinsengracht 263 but high winds on Monday proved too much for both the tree and the steel construction which was built around it in 2008. For Anne, this chesnut tree probably symbolised … Lees verder

World Cup 2010: France plays Uranus, will England play Saturn?

This World Cup is Full of Suprises. Let’s start with the basic increment of the game: the ball. Sounds simple enough, it should be round and kick-able.  However, this ball, called the Jabulani has a mind of its own and drove players and goalkeepers in the first games to the edge of dispair. Then there’s been the upsets: teams that looked good on paper, but that have  been able to deliver the goods (e.g. England, Italy, and France). Let’s stay with France for a moment.  If nothing else, France it seems have definitely taken it … Lees verder

Horoscope: The World Cup, Africa rising..

After a spectacular concert last night, today the World Cup well and truly kicks off. The official opening ceremony takes places this afternoon at 14.00, in Johannesburg. This is the first time that the “Dark Continent” hosts the World Cup.  However, the days of  Africa touting this name  are clearly drawing to a close, as Bishop Desmond Tutu rightly reminded us last night, Africa  is “The cradle of the World”. The horoscope of the World Cup Opening. This is a fantastic opportunity for South Africa. The North Node on the IC in Capricorn,  emphasises the idea of roots, of creation, of birth, while Venus in … Lees verder
